AI Visibility Tools With Prompt Volume Data, Compared (2026)

Which GEO tools show how often a prompt is actually asked, how they calculate it, and what it costs to get the number. A buyer's comparison of Promptwatch, Temso, Profound, HeyAmos, Writesonic GEO, and the SEO suites.

Prompt volume is becoming a standard checkbox on GEO pricing pages. The checkbox hides big differences: some tools publish how the number is built, some gate it behind Enterprise, and some derive it from Google keyword data and call it a prompt. If you're buying a tracker partly to decide which questions to work on, those differences matter more than the engine count.

This guide covers the tools in our catalog that document some form of prompt volume or demand data, in the order we'd evaluate them. Prices and limits come from each tool's listing on this site.

What to look for

Three questions separate a useful volume number from a decorative one.

  1. Is the method published? If you can't explain where a number comes from, you can't use it to argue for budget.
  2. Is it attached to the prompts you track? A separate research database is less useful than volume on each tracked prompt.
  3. Is there a difficulty or competition signal next to it? Demand without effort is half a prioritization.

1. Promptwatch

Promptwatch is the only tool here that publishes its full formula. Volume comes from keywords attached to each prompt, with monthly Google, Bing, and AI search volumes weighted 0.5, 1.5, and 5 respectively. It's shown as a band from 1 to 10k+ and reads "No data" rather than guessing when no keyword has volume. Keyword data refreshes at most every three months.

Difficulty sits next to it. It uses a 30-day window and blends keyword competition with the authority of sources AI models already cite for the prompt. Citation rate and query fan-outs are on the same view, and Prompt Explorer suggests new prompts from Search Console, ranking keywords, People Also Ask, and your own pages.

Volume is also not the end of the product. The same prompts feed citation analytics, content gap analysis, AI crawler logs, and visitor analytics with conversions, so a prompt you prioritize by volume can be followed through to traffic. Essential is $95/mo for 50 prompts and 6,000 responses with a 7-day trial; Professional is $245/mo for 150 prompts.

2. Temso

Temso lists prompt intelligence weighted with search volume and Search Console data, alongside daily tracking from live interfaces, citation analytics, and AI bot analytics. Starter is $89/mo for 50 prompts on three models, with Claude as a paid add-on. Full model coverage and meaningful bot log volume start on Growth at $199/mo.

Our listing doesn't document a published volume formula or a difficulty score, so treat the volume weighting as a useful signal rather than a number you can audit.

3. Profound

Profound has a serious Prompt Volumes dataset that estimates real query demand, and it's one of the more distinctive pieces of its product. The catch is access: the full Prompt Volumes product is Enterprise-gated along with ten-engine coverage and the API. Public pricing starts at $99/mo (annual) for ChatGPT only, and Enterprise contracts start around $40k a year.

Profound is also sold as a broader marketing agent platform, so if prompt research is your main need, you'd be paying for a lot of adjacent product.

4. HeyAmos

HeyAmos shows prompt volume scores alongside visibility, sentiment, and position, plus citation mapping down to URL and fan-out queries. Prompt volumes start on Growth at $249/mo; the $99 Starter covers ChatGPT and AI Overviews with 25 prompts each. Tracking is weekly rather than daily, and Gemini and Perplexity wait until Pro at $399/mo.

5. Writesonic GEO

Writesonic GEO includes prompt search volume data in its GEO module, next to Brand Presence, Topic Explorer, and sentiment. It's a content-first product, and self-serve tiers cover three engines (ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Overviews). Starter is $79/mo on annual billing. Pick it if writing volume matters more to you than tracking depth.

SEO suites: keyword-modeled, not prompt-measured

Semrush AI Toolkit and Ahrefs Brand Radar both build AI visibility on top of keyword data. Our listings note that Semrush's tracked questions are AI-generated approximations, and that Ahrefs models prompts from Google keyword data and weights estimated impressions by Google search volume. Neither listing documents prompt volumes or difficulty scores as such.

That's fine if you want AI mentions inside an SEO suite you already pay for. It's a weak basis for deciding which conversational questions to work on, because the demand number describes Google behavior.

How to choose

If you need a volume number you can defend, with difficulty next to it and the rest of the GEO workflow on the same prompts, Promptwatch is the one to trial first. Temso is the closest alternative on price. Profound makes sense if you're already buying an Enterprise marketing platform. For more options, see the full tool rankings.
