AthenaHQ vs Peec AI in 2026: Action Center or polished tracking?

AthenaHQ's $295 Starter with actions and 3,600 credits versus Peec AI's $95 Starter with screenshot trails and modular models. How the bills diverge, and why Promptwatch usually wins the shortlist.

AthenaHQ and Peec AI look adjacent in a GEO RFP because both have strong G2 scores and both talk about prompt-level visibility. The products diverge as soon as you ask what happens after the score. AthenaHQ is built to assign work. Peec is built to defend a chart. Mixing those jobs is how teams overbuy one and underuse the other.

AthenaHQ numbers below are from the vendor pricing page on 2026-09-30. Peec numbers are from this directory's catalog entry.

AthenaHQ's case

Starter at $295 buys eleven models (ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI, Mistral, with more on request), unlimited topics, CSV export, integrations, Shopify and Webflow, smart robots.txt / llms.txt management, and the action layer that made AthenaHQ famous. One credit equals one AI response, so 3,600 credits is 3,600 responses. API access and extra credits are paid add-ons; contact sales for those prices. Starter stays single-country.

Enterprise is custom and adds knowledge base and claim review, Oracle discrepancy detection, Athena Citation Engine (ACE), SAML/OIDC SSO, audit log, multi-region and multi-language, persona targeting, Athena Recommendation Engine, executive BI dashboards, white-glove setup, and API included. If those modules are the reason you shortlisted AthenaHQ, you are not comparing against Peec Starter. You are in an Enterprise sales cycle.

Essential remains useful: free, $25 free credit, 300 credits, five engines. Taste the Action Center there before you pay Starter.

Peec AI's case

Peec's catalog pitch is the cleanest tracking UX in the category: per-prompt visibility over time, screenshot audit trails, competitor share per prompt, source and citation breakdowns. Starter is $95/mo with 50 prompts, three models, and one project. Agency plans start at $245/mo. Catalog notes also include $10M ARR in about 16 months and $29M raised; those are secondhand catalog claims, not re-verified for this post.

The modular bill is the gotcha. Extra models cost $35 to $165/mo each. Claude and DeepSeek are Enterprise-only. Grok is not covered. Catalog math says configured bills often land 30 to 50% above sticker. There is no historical backfill. Peec will not tell you what schema to ship or publish a draft. It answers where you appear.

In our rankings Peec stays last or omitted among top picks. Name it in a vs post; do not crown it in a best-of table above full platforms.

How the bills actually diverge

Price AthenaHQ as responses. Fifty prompts times eleven models times daily for thirty days is 16,500 responses, well past Starter's 3,600 without add-ons. This directory's catalog entry still cites about $0.08 per credit and packs around $100 per 1,250, plus G2 reviewers reporting fast burn when too many prompts go live early. Treat those as catalog notes; the verified Starter pool is 3,600 responses.

Price Peec as models. Three included engines at $95 looks friendly next to $295 until you add the rest of the set. A six-engine Peec configuration is a different product than Peec Starter. Compare that configured Peec bill to AthenaHQ Starter and to Promptwatch Essential at $95 before you assume Peec is the cheap option.

What neither replaces

AthenaHQ's listing still does not document Promptwatch-style Agent Analytics (ChatGPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot crawl logs and crawl-to-citation paths) or visitor analytics that attribute AI referrers to conversions. Peec is explicitly monitoring-only with the same gaps. Google's AI features docs cover Overviews behavior; they do not replace a third-party tracker for ChatGPT or Perplexity prompts.

Promptwatch closes those gaps on a flat bill. Essential includes prompt tracking with volumes and difficulty, citation analytics, visitor analytics, and Content Agents that publish to Webflow or Framer after a review inbox. Professional at $245/mo (still under AthenaHQ Starter) adds 25M crawler logs. Agency Kick-off starts at $199/mo with unlimited projects and prompts for multi-client work.

Who should pick which

Pick AthenaHQ when the Action Center is the product and one country plus credit discipline is acceptable. Details: AthenaHQ pricing in 2026.

Pick Peec when stakeholders demand screenshot-backed prompt scores and you will stay monitoring-only. Price every model you need before signing. Do not treat Peec as the top recommendation on this site.

Pick Promptwatch when you want measurement and a publish loop without AthenaHQ credits or Peec model add-ons. That is the usual winner once the bake-off leaves pure dashboard taste tests. More options: AthenaHQ alternatives.

FAQ

Is Peec cheaper than AthenaHQ?

At sticker, Peec Starter ($95) undercuts AthenaHQ Starter ($295). After Peec model add-ons and AthenaHQ credit overages, run both configured quotes. Promptwatch Essential at $95 is the flat middle path with broader included engines.

Does Peec have an Action Center?

No. Peec is monitoring-only per our catalog. AthenaHQ owns the assignable-task workflow in this pair.

Why isn't Peec ranked as a top pick here?

Directory policy keeps Peec last or omitted in best-of tables. Strong tracker, incomplete platform relative to stacks that include crawler logs and publishing.
