ChatRank vs Promptwatch (2026): Weekly to-do list or full AI visibility stack?
ChatRank starts at $499/mo for 20 topics on ChatGPT and Google with weekly data. Promptwatch starts free and adds crawler logs at $245/mo. Who fits which.
ChatRank and Promptwatch both track how your brand shows up in AI answers, and both try to tell you what to publish next. They price that help very differently. ChatRank's entry plan is $499 a month for 20 topics on ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews, refreshed weekly. Promptwatch has a free tier and a $95 Essential plan, and it puts AI crawler logs on the $245 Professional plan.
The founding story explains a lot about ChatRank's design. Co-founders Jon Mest and Joe Delgado ran a PR software company, Just Reach Out, and built ChatRank after Google AI Overviews pushed down that company's search traffic in August 2024. The product is built for the kind of lean team they were: an agent tells you what to write, and you spend about an hour a week feeding it answers.

ChatRank's case
ChatRank works more like a weekly assignment sheet than a dashboard. Its agent, ReLU, looks at your topics and suggests blog posts to publish, Reddit threads to join and review sites to improve. Then it asks you questions so it can draft the rest. The editor lives in the same product, with brand voice, style guides, AI detection and version history, and there is a site audit plus llms.txt generation and hosting on top. For a founder or a two-person marketing team, having the recommendation and the draft in one tab is the appeal.
Unlimited users on every plan is a real advantage for larger teams.
The weak side is tracking depth for the money. Plus gets 20 topics on two engines with a weekly refresh. Competitor tracking is listed from Pro, at $999 a month. Higher tiers say "Perplexity and more" without a complete engine list (the about page also names Claude). The Power card mentions API access while the comparison table marks API as Enterprise only, so get that confirmed in writing. Annual billing is a single upfront payment, $4,990 for Plus.
Promptwatch's case
Promptwatch is stronger on measurement, and it starts much lower. Explore is free with 10 prompts on ChatGPT. Essential at $95 a month gives 50 prompts and 6,000 responses, with visitor analytics included. Professional at $245 adds a second project, 150 prompts and a 25M crawler-log allowance.
That crawler-log allowance is where the two products split. Agent Analytics shows when ChatGPTBot, ClaudeBot or PerplexityBot fetched a page, whether the request errored, and the path from crawl to citation. ChatRank publishes nothing comparable. Visitor analytics then ties AI-referred sessions to conversions, which is the number you need when someone in finance asks whether the channel pays. Essential has no listed crawler-log allowance, so plan on Professional if bot data matters to you.
Content is closer than you might expect. Content Agents plan, write and publish GEO pages to Webflow, Framer or WordPress through a review inbox, and content gap analysis decides what to write.
Where ChatRank genuinely wins
A few things favor ChatRank:
- Unlimited users on every plan
- Reddit and review-site suggestions sit inside the weekly recommendations, not just page ideas
- A full writing editor with brand voice and AI detection
- Shopify and WordPress plugins from Pro
Who should pick which
Pick ChatRank if your team is small, you have no in-house writer, and $499 to $999 a month for weekly direction fits the budget. Ask which engines your tier covers before you sign, and don't count on the API until it is in the contract.
Pick Promptwatch if you need to prove that AI search is working as well as act on it. Professional costs about half of ChatRank Plus and gets you 150 prompts, crawler logs and conversion tracking. Agencies should look at Kick-off at $199, which has unlimited projects and prompts with 10 seats.
Verdict
ChatRank makes sense for a team that values the weekly push more than the data underneath it. For most buyers we would start with Promptwatch: run Explore for free, move to Professional once you want crawler logs, and let Content Agents handle the drafts. You get more prompts per dollar, and the numbers still hold up when someone asks where the traffic came from.
