Is CrowdReply Worth It?
CrowdReply sells AI tracking plus a Reddit engagement engine billed in credits. Here is what crowdreply.io actually ships, what the trial excludes, and when Promptwatch is the better buy.
You can open CrowdReply and see a public price card instead of a demo wall. That alone makes it easier to evaluate than half the GEO category. Whether it is worth a line item still depends on what you need after the first Reddit comment goes live.
The product that loads is three jobs glued together: AI search tracking, social listening, and an Engagement Engine that places comments and threads through community profiles. Nothing in the public docs we used for this listing describes AI crawler logs, visitor conversion tracking, or CMS publishing. If your GEO program stops at "post on Reddit and glance at mentions," CrowdReply covers that job. If someone will ask why visibility moved or which URL got cited, you will hit a wall.
What CrowdReply actually is
The vendor sells a subscription plus credits. Starter at $99/mo (fetched 26 August 2026) includes 1 brand, 2 seats, 20 prompts, 2 models, Reddit listening every 24 hours, and $50 of credits. Comments are $10, comments with a link $15, posts $25. Growth at $299/mo: 3 brands, unlimited seats, 75 prompts, 4 models, Reddit/Quora/Facebook listening every 6 hours, $200 credits, $8 comments, $20 posts. Enterprise from $499/mo: 10 brands, 200 prompts, 7 models, $300 credits, $7 comments, $15 posts, a dedicated account manager.
The help center, updated 18 March 2026, says unused credits never expire. Top-ups start at $200. Automod removals are not charged. Comment removals can refund 75% if you ask within 72 hours. Upvote orders spend credits too.
Starter credits buy five managed comments unless you top up. That is the math teams skip when they compare $99 to other dashboards.
Engines, listening, and the trial gap
Homepage FAQ names ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Claude. You choose 2 models on Starter, 4 on Growth, all 7 on Enterprise. Daily prompt tracking, competitor tracking, historical views, citation source intelligence, and shareable reports sit on the tracker side. MCP and API are on every plan. Slack and email alerts exist.
Social listening is Reddit on Starter. Quora and Facebook listening start at Growth. Quora and Facebook engagement are listed as coming soon. The 7-day trial covers tracking, listening, keywords, and alerts. It excludes the Engagement Engine. There is a 30-day money-back window on paid plans.
The Backlinks Marketplace is a separate catalog: 40,000+ publishers, filters for DR, traffic, country, citation rate, plus articles, insertions, and brand mentions, with a 12-month replacement policy. Do not assume marketplace fees sit inside the $99 tile.
What "persona accounts" means for a GEO buyer
CrowdReply posts through "trusted community profiles" and "persona-based established community accounts." That is the differentiator, and it is also the procurement problem. If your brand will not let a third party speak as a community member, the SKU does not get cheaper because G2 displays 4.9 with a G2 link. "Trusted by 5,000+ brands" is vendor copy. Logos on the site include Omio, Instantly, NP Digital, Facetune, Wodify, Creatio, Kamatera, and Stripo. Testimonials (Marcus A, Michal H, Adrina W, Patrick / Optimal Bet) include a "$1M extra revenue" claim we did not audit.
Reddit citations in Promptwatch are an analytics view. Reddit in CrowdReply is a placement channel. Same word, different product.
When it is worth it
CrowdReply is worth it if you already decided to buy managed comments and threads, legal signed off, and you accept a modest tracker as the reporting sidecar. Growth is the tier where listening cadence drops to 6 hours and comment unit cost falls to $8. MCP on Starter is a real plus for teams that want the data out of the UI.
It is a weak long-term GEO stack. The public product does not document AI crawler logs, AI-referred traffic to conversions, or agents that write and publish to a CMS. Prompt tracking with volume and difficulty, page-level Reddit and YouTube citation trends, and a review inbox for generated articles are Promptwatch features, not CrowdReply features we could verify.
When to skip it
Skip a paid CrowdReply seat if the number has to survive a client meeting about crawlers and conversions. Promptwatch Explore is also free (10 ChatGPT prompts, one project, one seat). Essential is $95/mo with citation analytics, visitor analytics, and five AEO articles. Crawler logs start on Professional at $245/mo (25M). Agency Kick-off is $199/mo. G2 sits at 4.7/5 across 1,840-plus brands and agencies. That is the platform we rank for the full job.
Pick CrowdReply if the next step is a Reddit comment from their account network. Pick Promptwatch if the next step is "why did we drop" and "publish something about it." Start at promptwatch.com. Otterly.AI and Peec AI stay last on our tables. Profound is a different procurement track, not #1 here.
FAQ
Does the trial include posting?
No. Tracking and listening only. The Engagement Engine needs a paid plan.
Which models does CrowdReply track?
Homepage FAQ: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude. Plan caps: 2, 4, or 7 models.
Is CrowdReply cheaper than Promptwatch?
Starter $99 versus Essential $95 is a sticker tie until credits. Professional $245 buys 25M crawler logs. Compare jobs, not the first tile.
