LLM Rank Monitor vs Prompt Zero (2026): two cheap trackers that cover different engines
Both start at $29/mo. LLM Rank Monitor tracks ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and AI Overviews for unlimited brands; Prompt Zero covers Gemini and Grok and reads GA4. How to choose.
LLM Rank Monitor and Prompt Zero both open at $29 a month and both promise daily AI visibility data for small teams. The real difference is which engines they watch. LLM Rank Monitor covers ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews. Prompt Zero covers ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok and Perplexity, and lists Claude and AI Overviews as coming soon. If you know which engines your buyers use, that may settle it before you read further.
We compare them below on the points a buyer should check, with Promptwatch as the benchmark.

How LLM Rank Monitor works
You enter the exact buyer prompts, word for word. Each scheduled check asks every prompt once on all four surfaces, stores the raw answers, extracts brand mentions and cited sources, and reports visibility, share of voice and per-prompt rank. Results show their run counts, and 7- and 30-day patterns keep one strange answer from being reported as a trend. That candour about method is a point in its favour.
The economics suit consultants. Every plan allows unlimited brands drawing on one prompt pool: Starter $59 for 30 prompts, Pro $119 for 80, Consultant $289 for 200 with client reports, and Agency $569 for 400 with white-label reports and client portals. Annual billing is 5% cheaper.
The limits are fixed. Upgrading buys capacity and client workflow, never more engines, so Gemini, Copilot, Grok and Google AI Mode are out on every plan. Answers come from provider APIs rather than the consumer apps people use. There are no on-demand checks, and we found no API, MCP connector, company details or traffic analytics on the site.
How Prompt Zero works
Prompt Zero calls itself "Ahrefs for AI search". It scans its engines every day and folds mention rate (35%), ranking position (30%), citations (20%) and sentiment (15%) into a 0 to 100 score. Publishing the weights helps, because you can see which part moved.
Its pitch is the weekly action list built from AI answers plus Google Search Console, GA4 and your own site. A Brand Facts feature flags answers that contradict facts you enter. Pro at $99 ($79 annual) raises the limits to 15 brands, 50 prompts, 6 models, 5 manual scans a month and CSV exports.
Check three things first. The Search Console and GA4 connection appears on the homepage but not in the pricing comparison. Pro's 50 prompts are shared across up to 15 brands. And the product is young: its own blog lists "newer platform (launched 2026)" as a con, and its ChatGPT tracker roundup ranks Prompt Zero first.
Who should pick which
- Consultants with many small clients: LLM Rank Monitor. Unlimited brands on a shared pool is the better deal.
- Buyers who care about Claude or Google AI Overviews: LLM Rank Monitor, until Prompt Zero ships them.
- Founders who want Gemini and Grok, plus a to-do list tied to Search Console: Prompt Zero.
- Anyone who needs to test before paying: Prompt Zero's no-card trial with Pro access and a 14-day refund is the gentler start.
The Promptwatch option
Both tools stop at the answer. Neither shows whether AI crawlers can reach your pages, and neither documents conversion tracking on its pricing page. Promptwatch covers both: Agent Analytics logs ChatGPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, GoogleOther and the Meta AI crawler with the crawl-to-citation path, and visitor analytics ties AI-referred sessions to conversions through a script or GTM template.
Engine coverage stops being a trade-off too. Promptwatch monitors ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Grok, Llama, DeepSeek, Mistral and Copilot, plus Google AI Overviews and AI Mode. Essential at $95 a month runs 50 prompts across all tracked LLMs with a daily refresh. Prompts come with search volumes, difficulty scores and query fan-outs, which helps you pick the 50 that matter.
Verdict
LLM Rank Monitor is the more mature measurement tool and the better agency deal. Prompt Zero is cheaper to try and more useful for a founder who lives in Search Console, but two of the engines buyers ask about most are still "coming soon". For a team that has to explain results, not just watch them, Promptwatch Essential is worth the extra spend: every engine on one plan, plus crawler and conversion data neither tool publishes.
