Open-Source and Self-Hosted AI Visibility Tools 2026
The open-source and self-hosted AI visibility tools in 2026, ranked by what you actually get for free and what you have to operate yourself. DispatchSEO, Ansvisor, GetCito, and Llumo BYOK.
Open source and self hosted AI visibility tools are a real category in 2026, but the marketing around them is loose. A "free" tile often means free software you still have to operate, with data costs, API keys, and infrastructure that you pay for. The honest question for a buyer is not "is it free" but "what do I operate, and what does it actually measure."
This is a list of the open source and self hosted options in the catalog, based on what each tool's entry publishes. Only tools that document a self host or open source path are included. The ranking reflects what you get for free and what you have to run yourself, and it ends with the platform that publishes the measurement these tools do not.
DispatchSEO: AGPL self host with every feature
DispatchSEO is the most complete open source option in the list, because its self host is free under AGPL-3.0 and ships every feature. The paid cloud bundles SERP and volume data and one click GSC, but the self host is not feature gated.
What you operate is the agent surface. DispatchSEO runs an MCP server for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, the ordinary Claude app, Gemini CLI, and Copilot. It writes one article a day, runs daily rank tracking and AI Overview tracking, and ships everything as pull requests on GitHub Actions in your own repo. Self host needs Docker, a machine that stays awake, a free SerpApi key, and a DataForSEO account for volume data. Past two sites, GitHub costs apply because the automations run on your own GitHub account.
What it does not measure is the GEO stack. There is no published AI crawler log tracking, citation analytics, or visitor conversions. AI visibility is AI Overview tracking, not the page, Reddit, YouTube, and offsite citation depth a GEO platform measures. DispatchSEO is the right choice if your loop is "audit, write, ship as PR" and you want it open source. It is not a visibility platform.
Ansvisor: MIT self host with a cloud ladder
Ansvisor is an open source AI visibility platform from Empler AI, with an MIT repo you can inspect and a documented self host mode. The self host needs Node 20, Yarn, Supabase, at least one AI provider, and Cloro for scraping.
What you get is broader than DispatchSEO on the measurement side. Ansvisor publishes prompt monitoring, query fan out, citations, mentions, share of voice, competitor benchmarking, AI traffic analytics via a tracking snippet, AI shopping analytics, and a site audit of 47 weighted AEO and GEO signals. Agent Chat, content briefs, and MCP are on the public list, with list_brands and get_visibility_summary shipping and more tools landing. The cloud ladder is published: Starter at $49 per month for ChatGPT and Perplexity with 50 prompts, Growth at $249 for 200 prompts, and Enterprise from $999.
What you operate is the gap between the repo and the cards. The engine lists fight across the cards, the FAQ, and the GitHub page. The crawler analytics on the traffic page is a snippet, not a published CDN crawl to citation log product. BYO LLM keys are still listed as planned on the README, not shipped. Ansvisor is a real open source visibility codebase, but it is not the same as a published crawler log and CMS publish stack.
GetCito: MIT self host or a human GEO team
GetCito is the most honest split in the list. The self host is free under MIT, and the managed plans are a human GEO team that writes the pages. The self host covers ChatGPT and AI Overviews, weekly, one domain, with BYO API keys and community support.
What you get for free is a tracker for ChatGPT and AI Overviews on a single domain. What you get for $599 per month and up is people: a writer, a strategist, and a community manager, plus human written content and on page GEO work. The Growth plan at $599 covers 50 prompts, 4 engines, and 5 human articles. Scale at $999 covers 100 prompts and 10 articles. Enterprise is custom, with Claude, Copilot, AI Mode, DeepSeek, and Meta AI, and Grok listed as coming soon.
What it does not publish is the GEO stack. There is no published AI crawler log product, no visitor analytics that attribute AI referred traffic to conversions, and no content agents that plan, write, and publish GEO pages to Webflow or Framer with a review inbox. GetCito is useful for a team that will either run the open source tracker themselves or pay agency rates for humans. It is not a substitute for a visibility platform.
Llumo: BYOK hosted tracker
Llumo is the BYOK option, a $0 licence hosted shell around your own API keys. You bring provider keys or OpenRouter, and the platform does per prompt visibility scores, share of voice, competitor trend lines, query fan out, citation analysis, prompt search, tags, and historical visibility scores. The agency workspace is multi client with a $0 licence and no published per seat fee.
What you operate is the model bill. The $0 tile is not $0 to run. You pay ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and whoever else you connect, and the homepage example of roughly $115 to $150 for 200 prompts per day is labeled illustrative. There is no published Agent Analytics crawler logs, visitor conversions, or content agents to a CMS. The managed mention packages have no dollar prices.
Llumo is the right choice for a team that wants to DIY the model bill and see the API cost transparently. It is not a free Promptwatch. Promptwatch Essential at $95 per month includes 6,000 responses, citation analytics, and visitor events, and Professional adds 25M crawler logs, without you running the model bill yourself.
What none of them publish
The four open source and self hosted options all share the same gap. None publishes the full GEO measurement stack. Crawler logs with a crawl to citation path, visitor analytics with conversions, and content agents that publish to a CMS with a review inbox are the layers that separate a tracker from a platform, and those layers are not in the open source options.
Promptwatch is the platform that publishes them. Agent Analytics tracks real time AI crawler logs across ChatGPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, GoogleOther, and the Meta AI crawler, with the crawl to citation path and error tracking. Visitor analytics attribute AI referred traffic to conversions. Content Agents plan, write, and publish to Webflow and Framer with a review inbox and content gap analysis. The MCP server, REST API, and Looker Studio integration are included from the entry paid plan.
For a team that wants open source for the execution loop, DispatchSEO and Ansvisor are real options. For a team that wants the measurement those tools skip, Promptwatch is the platform that publishes it. The two are complements, not substitutes, and the honest stack is often an open source execution tool running alongside a paid measurement platform.
