Reputation vs Yext Scout (2026): A free location dashboard or a packaged AI agent?
Reputation's AI Location Presence Insights costs nothing extra for listings customers. Yext Scout routes fixes through Yext's agents. What each covers, and what both miss.
If your stores already sit in Reputation for reviews and listings, there may be an AI search dashboard in your account you haven't opened. Reputation's support FAQ calls AI Location Presence Insights a no-cost upgrade for Business Listings and RepCore customers. Yext Scout works the other way round. It's an agent that feeds recommendations into the rest of Yext's products, sold inside a bigger platform deal.
At first glance the trade is easy. Reputation's tool is free to its customers and tells you what's wrong. Yext's costs an unpublished amount and tries to act on what it finds. Which suits you depends on how many engines you care about, how fresh the data must be, and who on your team will act on it. We benchmark both against Promptwatch, since neither covers crawler activity or AI-referred traffic.

What Reputation's dashboard tells a regional manager
You pick a location and get five widgets: Listing Accuracy, Search Mentions, Sentiment, Search Visibility and Topic Sentiment. Listing Accuracy is the one managers will open first, because it shows what ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity believe your address, phone number and hours are. Mention rate is the share of AI responses that name the location when someone searches it on a given engine. Reputation launched the feature in May 2026 alongside AI Reputation Manager, a brand-level tool for up to 40 questions with answers, citations and a sentiment trend.
When the dashboard spots a wrong detail, Fix Inaccurate Citations puts your Reputation profile next to each engine's version and links to the source. That's where it ends. The FAQ says you can't correct the error inside the dashboard; you edit the source site if you admin it, or chase whoever does.
The other limits come from the setup: three engines and a monthly refresh. Reputation's own guide also warns that, because the engines are queried through enterprise APIs, results may not match what customers see in the free consumer apps. Pricing has a wrinkle too. The FAQ says the AI tools are free for listings customers, but the pricing page only names AI Reputation Manager under Rep Core + Pulse at $115 per location a month. What Yext Scout does with the same problem
Scout's pitch is action. A Yext SVP calls it "the connective tissue that ties together all of Yext's products." In practice a recommendation can become a listings update, a review response or a page change without anyone copying it into another tool. If your location pages and review replies already run on Yext, that saves real hours. If they don't, Scout pulls you toward buying them.
Its competitive view is stronger than Reputation's, ranking each location against up to 20 nearby competitors.
The costs are in what you can't see. There's no list price, and citation data needs a paid Scout subscription. Engine coverage stops at about four. Scout has almost no independent reviews, and the parent company's SMB record includes complaints from customers who say they couldn't cancel a renewal, so have someone read the exit terms before signing.
Where each one comes out ahead
Reputation wins on price for anyone already paying for its listings, and on brand-level research through AI Reputation Manager. It also keeps AI findings next to reviews and survey data, which suits teams that run reputation as one program.
Yext Scout wins when someone has to act on findings at scale, and when local competitive context matters more than accuracy checks. A 300-store network already on Yext is its natural buyer.
Neither is fast: Reputation refreshes monthly and Yext publishes no cadence.
The gap both leave open
Reputation's API caveat points at a bigger issue. If the answers you measure differ from the ones customers read, your accuracy score is an estimate. Promptwatch monitors the real interfaces of ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Grok, Copilot and others, plus Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, and refreshes prompts daily on paid plans.
It also covers ground neither local tool documents. Agent Analytics shows whether ChatGPTBot, PerplexityBot or ClaudeBot fetched a location page, and flags crawl errors. Citation analytics shows the pages, domains, Reddit threads and YouTube videos cited for a city-level prompt. Visitor analytics connects AI-referred sessions to bookings or orders. City tracking and crawler logs start on Professional at $245 a month; an agency running several brands would look at Growth ($399/mo, 25,000 responses, 25M crawler logs). Promptwatch doesn't sync listings, so keep Reputation or Yext for that.
Our call
If you're a Reputation customer, switch the dashboard on; it's free and works as a monthly accuracy check. Large networks already on Yext can make Scout pay off if the bundle price and renewal terms are fair. To measure whether AI search brings customers to your locations, we would add Promptwatch to either setup, starting on Professional with your top city prompts.
FAQ
Is Reputation's AI Location Presence Insights really free?
For existing customers, yes. Reputation's FAQ describes it as a no-cost upgrade for Business Listings and RepCore bundles. It isn't sold on its own.
Does Yext Scout fix errors for you?
Its recommendations route into Yext's Listings, Reviews, Pages and Social agents, so changes happen inside the Yext products you use. Reputation only links you to the source.
How is Promptwatch different from both?
It tracks more engines with daily data and adds crawler logs, citation sources and AI-referred conversions. It doesn't manage listings, so most chains would run it next to their listings platform.
