SignalKit vs Citality (2026): nine engines per prompt, or a judge on every mention?
SignalKit charges $39/mo for 10 prompts on nine AI platforms. Citality starts at $29/mo and has a second model verify every mention. Here is which one to buy, and when.
SignalKit and Citality are small self-serve AI visibility trackers with entry prices under $40, and on a pricing page they look interchangeable. They are built around different worries. SignalKit worries about coverage, so every prompt goes to nine AI platforms and you pay per prompt. Citality worries that the mentions themselves are wrong, so a second model judges each result before it counts, and you pay per check.
Everything below comes from the two vendors' own pages, read on 20 October 2026. Promptwatch sits in the table as the reference point.

How SignalKit works
There is one Monitoring plan: $39 a month for 10 prompts, then $3 a month for each extra prompt. A prompt tracked in two countries counts twice, so 20 prompts in one market costs $69. Each prompt runs on ChatGPT, the ChatGPT app, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Google AI Overviews, Grok, DeepSeek and Copilot. Eight of those run daily and Grok runs on Mondays and Thursdays.
The base price includes up to 999 projects, unlimited seats and competitors, exports, a REST API and an MCP connector. A Monday brief explains what moved, and every figure opens to the stored raw answer.
Read the method notes before signing. Six of the nine platforms are queried through their APIs; only Copilot, the logged-out ChatGPT app and Google AI Overviews are read from the live pages, through a third-party service called cloro. SignalKit itself says API answers are close to what users see but not identical. Its cited rate also leaves out Grok, DeepSeek and (on a standard project) Claude.
The Content & Growth add-on publishes drafts to Shopify or to GitHub-hosted Markdown and HTML sites, for $99 a month managed or $29 a month on your own model key. WordPress, Webflow and Framer are not listed.
How Citality works
Citality, from the Australian company Otron Pty Ltd, sells checks. One check is one prompt on one model; Perplexity counts as three and the high-accuracy judge doubles a test. Lite is $29 a month for 1 brand, 25 prompts and 250 checks, Starter $49 for 50 prompts and 500 checks, Growth $149 for 250 prompts and 2,500 checks, and Agency $399 for 1,000 prompts and 7,000 checks.
The judge is the reason to look at it. An independent model reviews each result so a common word isn't logged as your brand, scores its confidence, and sends unclear cases to a human review queue. If your brand name is also an ordinary word, that matters more than engine count.
The plan table is where it pinches. Claude and Perplexity start on Growth. The pricing table marks scheduled tracking as Growth and Agency only, while the homepage lists it as a general feature. And 25 prompts on two engines use up Lite's 250 checks in five runs.
Questions to put to each vendor
Get these answered in writing before you commit:
- SignalKit: what will the bill be at the prompt and country count I expect in six months?
- Citality: do Lite and Starter run on a schedule, or only when I trigger a run?
- Both: do you log AI crawler visits to my site, or only answers? Neither pricing page describes server-side crawler logs.
Who should pick which
Pick SignalKit if engine breadth and developer access come first. Nine platforms, an API and MCP for $39 is good value for a small team with a short prompt list, though $3 per prompt per country adds up at category scale.
Pick Citality if you report mention counts to clients and have to defend them. Budget for Growth at $149, because Lite and Starter leave out Claude, Perplexity and, going by the pricing table, scheduled runs.
The Promptwatch option
Both tools stop at the answer. Neither describes what AI crawlers do on your servers or what AI-referred visitors do once they arrive. Promptwatch's Agent Analytics records hits from ChatGPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot and other AI crawlers and follows the path from crawl to citation. Visitor analytics ties AI referrals to conversions.
Essential at $95 a month gives 50 prompts across every tracked LLM with daily refresh, MCP and API. Professional at $245 adds 25M crawler logs, 150 prompts and 15 AEO articles that Content Agents publish to WordPress, Webflow or Framer. Promptwatch also monitors the real user interfaces rather than relying on APIs alone, which is the caveat SignalKit raises about its own data.
Verdict
For the money, SignalKit is the better tracker if you want breadth and an API. Citality is the better one if inaccurate mention counts are what get you in trouble with clients. A team that has to explain why visibility moved, and what it earned, should start with Promptwatch Professional and keep one of these as a cheap second opinion.
FAQ
Which is cheaper, SignalKit or Citality?
Citality Lite costs $29 a month and SignalKit starts at $39, but Lite covers fewer engines and only 250 checks. For full engine coverage Citality Growth costs $149, while SignalKit runs all nine platforms from $39 plus $3 per extra prompt.
Do SignalKit and Citality offer free trials?
Citality starts every account on a free trial without a card. SignalKit's 14-day trial covers 10 prompts and 30 Content units and needs a card. SignalKit's site audit is free without an account.
Does either tool show AI crawler activity?
Citality's page tools review crawler access, meaning whether bots are allowed in. Neither vendor describes logging actual crawler visits. Promptwatch's Agent Analytics does that from the Professional plan, and you can start on the free Explore tier at promptwatch.com.
