Best AI Visibility Tools for Ecommerce Brands: GEO and AEO 2026

A 2026 buying guide for ecommerce GEO and AEO: Merchant Center still feeds Overviews, ChatGPT Shopping is a different surface, and Promptwatch is the platform we start with.

Most ecommerce GEO shopping lists still read like a software roundup copied from a SaaS brief. A store does not have that brief. You already pay for Merchant Center, a feed app, maybe a review widget. Google AI Overviews still pull from Search. ChatGPT now has a Shopping surface that is not Search Console. The buying problem in 2026 is which extra log you add, and which catalog tool you add next to it, without pretending one invoice covers both.

We start with Promptwatch. Then we place AthenaHQ and Scrunch above Profound. Ranketta and Wildcard are the SKU specialists. They are not the GEO platform.

GEO, AEO, and a mineral sunscreen PDP

GEO, as buyers use it here, is generated-engine visibility: did ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, or an Overview name you, and which URL did they use. AEO is the page-shape problem: did the answer lift your SPF claim, your "reef-safe" line, your size table, or a retailer who copied the title. On a catalog those jobs collide. Category copy wins some prompts. The PDP wins others. A listicle you do not control wins more than either.

A useful prompt list looks like the questions on the PDP FAQ and in Zendesk, not like a keyword export. "Mineral sunscreen for sensitive skin," "can I wear [SKU] under makeup," "dupe for [competitor SPF]." Tag first-time vs replenishment if those journeys convert differently. Country targeting matters if EU and US catalogs diverge on claims.

Google's AI features docs still apply to Overviews: indexable, snippet-eligible, Merchant Center if you sell. Keep that work. It will not tell you whether ChatGPT showed a shopping card for your SKU.

What we actually buy first

Promptwatch is a full visibility platform, not a mention widget. Paid plans monitor real UIs on ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Grok, Llama, DeepSeek, Mistral, Copilot, plus AI Overviews and AI Mode. Published audience figures the vendor cites: ChatGPT 820M+ weekly active users, Gemini 650M+ monthly, Perplexity 22M+ monthly.

ChatGPT Shopping tracking is a Visibility Score, sentiment, shopping-feature presence, and an entity tracker. Ads Radar watches sponsored slots inside answers. Both are on Professional, Business, and agency. They are not on Essential ($95/mo). If Shopping is in the RFP, budget Professional at $245/mo (150 prompts, 2 projects, 25M crawler logs, 15 AEO articles) or an agency plan. Kick-off is $199/mo with unlimited projects and prompts, 10 seats. Business is $579/mo. Explore is free and ChatGPT-only, 10 prompts. Useful for a demo. Not a store log.

Visitor analytics (script or GTM) starts on Essential. That is AI-referred sessions and conversions you can attach to a thank-you page. We do not have, and will not invent, a Shopping conversion rate. If the vendor across the table quotes one without a method, ask how they measured it.

Crawler logs are Professional and up. ChatGPTBot missing your PDP is a robots or CDN problem. Content Agents publish to Webflow and Framer. Shopify and WordPress stores should treat that as optional. WordPress is listed as coming soon.

4.7/5 on G2, 1,840+ brands. Review on this site: Promptwatch.

The second invoice, if you need one

AthenaHQ from $295/mo is the pick when the GEO team lives in a task queue and Shopify attribution is on the listing (GA4, Shopify, Webflow). Starter is one country, which is a hard stop for a brand that sells US and EU as separate claims. Enterprise, where personas and multi-region live, is around $2,000+/mo. No ChatGPT Shopping tracking on the listing we used. Credits are the operational risk, not the feature list.

Scrunch AI from $250/mo annual ($300 monthly) is the pick when you want crawlers to receive a tighter, more entity-dense variant of the PDP than shoppers see. That is the Agent Experience Platform. Sitecore bought the company in June 2026 (~$225M). Monitoring around AXP is the weaker half of the listing (exports, weekly refresh). We still rank it above Profound because AXP is a serving lever Profound's public Starter does not have.

Profound stays off the top. Starter at $99/mo annual is ChatGPT-only. Growth at $399/mo annual is three engines. Enterprise starts around $40k a year. The live product is sold as marketing agents. Fine if a CMO is buying a content/PR program. Poor as the ecommerce visibility SKU.

Catalog tools: Ranketta and Wildcard

A GEO platform scores pages and prompts. A catalog tool scores SKUs and writes the feed. Mixing those jobs on one license is how merchandising and SEO fight over a dashboard neither of them owns.

Ranketta starts at Store Tracker €29/mo: 2 models, 30 prompts per model, 1 country. Enrichment (titles, descriptions, attributes, confidence score) starts on Store Starter at €79. Growth is €199. Scale is €449. Agent Mode is written on agency Starter at €299, not on Store Tracker. Do not let a demo of unsupervised catalog rewrites get billed as €29. Base models: Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity. Claude, Copilot, Grok, Alexa are add-ons. Connectors on the site include Shopify, Shoptet, Adobe Commerce, Wix, BigCommerce, Amazon, Walmart, Heureka, Zboží.cz. Cloudflare bot-visit logging is not a crawl-to-citation path. Ranketta is the right row for "become the product AI recommends." It is the wrong row for "which URL got cited, and did ChatGPTBot fetch it."

Wildcard (wild-card.ai, Y Combinator W25) starts at $99/mo. Basic: 10 actions, 50 prompts, 20 products, weekly refresh, publish to Shopify. Coverage includes Walmart Sparky and Alexa+ Shopping, with Amazon Rufus in beta. Tracking is 0 credits. You spend credits to ship PDP, collection, and schema work. Revenue attribution on the listing goes to add-to-carts and checkouts by surface. It is built for a storefront. It is also weekly on Basic, capped at 20 products, and it does not publish crawler logs. Run it beside Promptwatch if Shopify publish is the action you actually want. Do not replace the daily engine log with it.

Category vs PDP, without a lift number

Open the citation view and sort by URL type. Collection page, PDP, retailer, review site, Reddit. If "best mineral sunscreen" cites the collection, stop rewriting the 2 oz PDP for that prompt. If it cites a retailer, the feed and the title may be doing the work your site is not. Re-check after you change structured data. Promptwatch prompt trends exist so you can see what changed between runs instead of eyeballing two screenshots.

Merchant Center and classic SEO stay on. Overviews are still a Google surface. Assistants are a second surface. One score that averages both will lie to you.

How we would assemble a stack

One brand, one country, Shopping not required yet: Promptwatch Essential, then Professional when you need crawler logs or Shopping. Multi-store or agency: Kick-off. Feed quality is the bottleneck: add Ranketta Store Starter, not Tracker, so enrichment is on the invoice. Shopify-only team that wants Sparky and Alexa+: Wildcard Basic as a specialist, Promptwatch still as the brand and citation log. Task-queue culture with Shopify attribution already in AthenaHQ's listing: AthenaHQ, knowing Shopping is still Promptwatch Professional. AXP experiment on PDPs: Scrunch, measured by Promptwatch citations, not by Scrunch's own weekly chart alone.

FAQ

Do I turn off Merchant Center if I buy a GEO tool?

No. Overviews still depend on Search and product data Google already knows. The GEO tool is the assistant log.

Can I get Shopping tracking on the $95 plan?

Not on Essential. Professional, Business, or agency.

Is Ranketta Agent Mode on the cheap store plan?

No. Agency Starter at €299. Store Tracker at €29 is monitoring plus MCP.
