Brand Monitoring Tools for ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Claude
A buyer's checklist for tracking your brand in ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Claude: which tools name Claude on the plan you'd buy, which hide it on Enterprise, and what to ask in the demo.
Almost every AI brand monitoring tool shows you ChatGPT. Most show Perplexity. Claude is where coverage gets patchy: some trackers leave it out, some put it on an Enterprise contract, and some advertise "nine engines" without saying which nine. If your buyers use all three assistants, the plan you sign has to cover all three.
Every engine claim below comes from the tool's catalog entry on this site. When an entry doesn't say whether Claude is covered, the table says "not published" rather than guessing. Promptwatch details come from its published plan sheet.
What monitoring an assistant actually involves
A tracker sends a fixed list of prompts to each assistant on a schedule, stores the answers, and checks whether your brand or its aliases appear, how the answer describes you, and which sources it cites. Three setup choices decide whether that data is worth paying for.
The prompt set. Use identical prompt strings in all three engines, or you can't compare them. A good starting set mixes category questions ("best payroll software for a 20-person company"), head-to-head comparisons against your main rival, and problem questions that name no brand at all. The last group is where new buyers find you.
Who is asking, and from where. Answers shift with context. Personas let you run the same prompt as a procurement lead and as a founder. Country tracking matters as soon as you sell in more than one market, and city tracking matters for anything local.
How often you check. Answers move between runs. Sometimes a new source got picked up, sometimes nothing obvious changed. One check is an anecdote. Daily checks give you a trend you can act on, while weekly checks give you four data points a month and a lot of guessing.
Each engine also reaches your site through its own crawlers, and this is where missing mentions often start:
- ChatGPT: OpenAI's OAI-SearchBot is the crawler that surfaces sites in ChatGPT search. GPTBot is the training crawler. They're controlled separately.
- Perplexity: PerplexityBot surfaces and links sites in Perplexity search and isn't used for training.
- Claude: Anthropic runs three separate bots. ClaudeBot collects training data, Claude-User fetches pages when a user asks, and Claude-SearchBot indexes for search quality. Each has to be allowed or blocked on its own, per subdomain.
That last point is easy to get wrong. A team blocks Claude in robots.txt to opt out of training and takes Claude-SearchBot down with it.
The buyer checklist
Take this list into every demo.
- Which engines are on the plan I'm buying? Not the top tier. This plan, in writing, with Claude named.
- Does each prompt run on every engine, or am I charged per engine per run?
- How often do prompts refresh on my plan?
- Do you capture the consumer interface, or call an API? API answers can differ from what a user sees.
- Can I set personas and countries per prompt, and on which plan?
- When I'm missing from an answer, what does the tool show me next?
- Can it connect AI referrals to conversions, or does it stop at mentions?
The ranked list
1. Promptwatch
Promptwatch monitors the real product interfaces of ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Claude, along with Gemini, Grok, Llama, DeepSeek, Mistral, Copilot, and Google AI Overviews and AI Mode. On paid plans each prompt runs across all tracked LLMs with a daily refresh, so Claude isn't an add-on line. Essential is $95/mo for 50 prompts and 6,000 responses. Professional is $245/mo for 150 prompts over 2 projects. Country tracking is on every paid plan, and state and city tracking start on Business at $579/mo. Agencies start at Kick-off, $199/mo with unlimited projects and prompts. If you start on the free Explore plan, note that it's ChatGPT only, with 10 prompts.
Where it pulls ahead is questions six and seven. Citation analytics shows which pages and domains each engine cited, Reddit and YouTube included, and how that shifts over time. Agent Analytics logs AI crawler visits, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot among them, with the crawl-to-citation path and error tracking; crawler log allowances are listed from Professional. Visitor analytics records AI-referred visits and conversions through a script or GTM template. Sentiment and share of voice run on the same answers.
2. AthenaHQ
AthenaHQ names ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek, and AI Overviews in its entry, and its Action Center turns gaps into assignable tasks. Starter is $295/mo ($245 annual) with 9 engines and a single country. Usage is credit-based, and personas and multi-region sit on Enterprise. Ask how many credits one prompt across three engines burns per day.
3. Scrunch AI
Scrunch AI offers up to nine engines on Enterprise, but its entry doesn't name them, so all three columns in our table read "not published." What it does differently is the Agent Experience Platform, which serves AI-optimized versions of your pages to LLM crawlers without changing the human site. From $250/mo annual ($300 monthly). The entry lists weekly refreshes and per-engine prompt credits. Ask for the engine list on Starter.
4. Brand24
Brand24 sells an AI Visibility add-on covering nine engines, including ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity, next to social listening across 25M+ sources. Its Events Detector sends email and Slack alerts on sudden spikes and drops. The add-on price isn't published. It makes sense when your PR team already lives in Brand24.
5. Superlines
Superlines captures live consumer interfaces and lists ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Claude among ten engines. Self-serve plans run any 3, which happens to fit this brief exactly. Starter is €79/mo (€69 annual) for 50 prompts and one month of history. Ten engines is Enterprise. Ask what happens to history if you swap an engine later.
6. Profound
Profound lists Perplexity and Claude among up to 10 engines on Enterprise, which starts around $40k a year. Starter is $99/mo annual and ChatGPT only. Growth is $399/mo annual for three engines, and the entry doesn't say which three. Ask before you assume Claude is one of them.
7. Qwairy
Qwairy lists 10+ engines on every paid plan, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Claude included, from €79/mo for 100 prompts and 1,300 credits. Its entry says Claude is an API sample, not a live UI capture. Each query costs one credit per model, and analyses pause when credits run out.
8. Semrush AI Toolkit
Semrush AI Toolkit is $99/mo per domain for 5 engines and 25 prompts, covering ChatGPT, Perplexity, and AI Overviews. Claude sits on the sales-gated Enterprise AIO tier. Reasonable for Semrush shops that can live without Claude for now.
9. Ahrefs Brand Radar
Ahrefs Brand Radar needs an Ahrefs base plan from $129/mo, then $199/mo per AI index or $699/mo for six indexes, ChatGPT and Perplexity among them. The entry states there's no Claude in the native indexes and that chatbot indexes refresh on roughly monthly cycles.

What to do after a missing or negative mention
If you're missing, start with the answer's cited sources. When a competitor is named because of a comparison page or a Reddit thread, that source is where you need to appear. Next, check that the engine can reach you: OAI-SearchBot for ChatGPT, PerplexityBot for Perplexity, Claude-SearchBot for Claude. OpenAI says robots.txt changes for search take about 24 hours to apply, and Perplexity says up to 24 hours, so don't judge a fix the same afternoon. Then ask whether you have a page that answers the prompt at all.
If the mention is negative, read the raw answer before the sentiment score. "More expensive than X" is a pricing-page job. A repeated complaint lifted from reviews belongs to product or support. Find the cited source that taught the framing and fix it there.
In Promptwatch these steps sit in one workspace. Citation analytics shows the source, Agent Analytics shows whether ClaudeBot or PerplexityBot fetched the page and hit an error, and content gap analysis shows prompts with no matching page. Content Agents can draft the missing page and publish it to Webflow, Framer, or WordPress after someone approves it in the review inbox. Prompt trends then show what changed between checks. We covered how Claude crawl data shows up in practice in Claude's citation crawler went from noise to a channel.
Who should pick which
- All three engines on a self-serve plan, plus crawler logs and conversions: Promptwatch.
- An enterprise team that wants gaps turned into assigned tasks and can work single-country on Starter: AthenaHQ.
- Teams that want to change what crawlers read: Scrunch AI, once it confirms the engine list in writing.
- PR teams already on Brand24: the AI Visibility add-on.
- A tight budget and exactly these three engines: Superlines Starter.
- Profound Enterprise customers: stay there, but don't buy Starter for a Claude brief.
- Semrush or Ahrefs shops: fine for ChatGPT and Perplexity. Add a tracker that covers Claude.
