Promptwatch vs Meltwater GenAI Lens vs Muck Rack Generative Pulse vs Cision (2026)
Meltwater, Muck Rack and Cision now track brands in AI answers. How their PR-suite modules compare with Promptwatch for comms and marketing teams.
This comparison is mostly for communications teams. If you run PR at a mid-size or large brand, you probably already pay Meltwater, Muck Rack or Cision for media monitoring, and all three now sell an AI visibility module. Leadership has started asking what ChatGPT says about the company, and the easiest answer is to switch on the add-on you already have a contract for. Sometimes that is the right call. Often the comms team ends up sharing the dashboard with a marketing or SEO team that wants different things from it: daily data, owned-site evidence and traffic numbers.
So the real decision is less "which PR suite" and more "is a PR-suite module enough, or do we need a dedicated AI visibility platform next to it." Below, everything about Meltwater GenAI Lens, Muck Rack Generative Pulse and the Cision AI Visibility Dashboard comes from their entries in our catalog. None of the three publishes pricing. Promptwatch details come from its published llms.txt.
Promptwatch: the dedicated platform
Promptwatch tracks prompts across ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Grok, Llama, DeepSeek, Mistral and Copilot, plus Google AI Overviews and AI Mode. All three paid brand plans refresh prompts daily. Each prompt can carry personas, topics, tags and country targeting, with state and city tracking from Professional up.
For a PR team, the citation side is where it overlaps most with the suites. Citation analytics show which pages and domains AI answers cite, with separate views for Reddit and YouTube citations, offsite mentions and citation type breakdowns. Citation trends show how those sources shift over time, which is the closest thing to watching a narrative change. Sentiment analysis, competitive benchmarking and share of voice sit on top. Agent Chat lets you ask questions of the live visibility data in plain language, which is handy when an executive wants an answer before the weekly report.
Where it goes past the PR tools is the owned-site layer. Agent Analytics logs AI crawler visits (ChatGPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot and others) with the crawl-to-citation path. Visitor analytics attribute AI-referred sessions to conversions. Content Agents turn gaps into drafts and publish them to Webflow, Framer or WordPress after review.
Pricing is public: Explore free for 10 ChatGPT prompts, Essential at $95/mo with a 7-day trial, Professional at $245/mo, Business at $579/mo. Agency plans run $199, $399 and $799 a month with unlimited projects and prompts.
Meltwater GenAI Lens
Meltwater GenAI Lens launched in 2025 and tracks how a brand appears in ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Google AI Overviews. It reports prevalence scores, AI share of voice, cited sources, competitor benchmarks and sentiment. The May 2026 mid-year release added AI-powered recommendations and LLM-generated executive reports. According to a Meltwater comparison page, it pairs AI citations with the same journalist and outlet contacts its media relations tool uses.
Data refreshes on a 48-hour cycle rather than daily. The catalog describes no crawler-log or conversion layer, and the product is aimed at PR workflows rather than publishing on your own site. Its biggest draw is that it sits right next to the news and social monitoring a Meltwater customer already uses.
Cision AI Visibility Dashboard
Cision announced the Cision AI Visibility Dashboard inside CisionOne on 14 July 2026. It has the widest engine list of the three suites: ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Grok, DeepSeek, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode and Mistral. The data comes from Trajaan, and Cision says Trajaan search intelligence is available across its other products, which include Brandwatch and PR Newswire.
The dashboard ties AI visibility to media coverage, outreach and social listening, with competitor benchmarking. It is new, and it is a dashboard feature inside a PR suite rather than a standalone product. The launch release stated no pricing or plan limits, and the catalog lists no crawler-log product or conversion analytics.
Muck Rack Generative Pulse
Muck Rack Generative Pulse takes the most explicitly PR-first position. Its pitch is that earned media drives AI visibility, so it maps AI citations back to the journalists and outlets behind them, and connects that tracking to email pitching. It also does sentiment and narrative tracking and earned-media impact reporting. The vendor says it has prompted AI systems more than 25 million times since July 2025 to study what they cite.
Engine coverage needs checking. Meltwater's comparison page lists three models for Generative Pulse (ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini), and we have not confirmed the current list, so ask Muck Rack directly. Owned-site measurement is out of scope: no crawler logs, visitor conversions or CMS publishing are published.

Who should pick which
If your team lives in Meltwater and the main ask is an executive report on how AI describes the brand, GenAI Lens is the low-friction choice. Check whether a 48-hour refresh is fast enough for the moments you care about, like a product recall or a launch week.
If you are on CisionOne and want the broadest engine list without a new vendor, the Cision dashboard is the natural add-on. Treat it as new and ask for a walkthrough on your own prompts.
If your GEO strategy is basically media relations, Muck Rack is the most direct fit. Meltwater also links citations to journalist contacts, but Muck Rack connects email pitching directly to the tracking, so finding the reporter ChatGPT keeps citing and pitching them happen in one product.
If marketing, SEO or the web team will use the data too, or someone will ask whether AI answers drove visits and sales, add Promptwatch. The PR suite can keep owning journalist outreach. Promptwatch owns the prompts, the owned-site evidence and the traffic.
Questions worth asking each PR vendor before you renew:
- How often does the data refresh, and is that the same on every engine?
- Can I see the exact cited page, or only the outlet?
- Do you track Reddit and YouTube as citation sources?
- Can you show AI crawler activity on our own site?
- What does the module cost on its own, outside the suite bundle?
Why Promptwatch is the one to trial first
The PR suites answer "who wrote the thing AI quoted." That is useful, but AI answers also cite plenty of sources that are not news at all, like product pages, docs, Reddit threads and YouTube videos. Promptwatch's citation analytics cover those sources too, so the comms team sees the full list of what shaped the answer, and the offsite mentions view shows where the brand is discussed without a link.
The other half of the argument is proof. When a campaign lands coverage, Agent Analytics can show whether AI crawlers then picked up the related pages on your site, and visitor analytics can show whether AI-referred visitors converted afterwards. That turns "we got mentioned in ChatGPT" into a number marketing and finance accept. When the gap is on your own site, Content Agents draft the page and publish it after review.
Because there is a free plan and a 7-day trial on Essential, you can run Promptwatch on the same prompts as your PR suite's module for a week and compare the citation lists side by side before the renewal call.
