Ubersuggest vs Ahrefs Brand Radar (2026): Budget prompt checks or index-scale AI research?

Ubersuggest adds ChatGPT and Gemini tracking to a low-cost SEO suite. Ahrefs Brand Radar models hundreds of millions of prompts on top of an Ahrefs plan. Which fits whom.

Ubersuggest AI Search Visibility and Ahrefs Brand Radar come up in the same searches because both attach AI visibility to an SEO tool people already know. Under the hood they measure in opposite ways. Ubersuggest runs a short list of prompts per project and shows you the answers. Brand Radar queries a very large index of prompts modeled from Ahrefs' keyword data and reports share of voice across it.

So before comparing prices, decide whether you want to watch a handful of specific questions or understand how your whole category looks in AI answers. Neither tool does day-to-day tracking especially well, which is why we use Promptwatch as the benchmark below.

Ubersuggest: cheap, with a small sample

Ubersuggest is Neil Patel's SEO suite, backed by his agency NP Digital. The AI module reports a visibility score, share of voice, the full AI answer and per-platform sentiment, inside the same project as your rankings. The plan table is plain about limits. Individual covers 10 prompts per project refreshed monthly with one response each. Business ($49) has 15 prompts refreshed every two weeks. Enterprise/Agency ($99) moves to 20 prompts weekly, three responses per prompt and AI Overviews tracking. Five extra prompts cost $5 a month.

Those numbers are also the weakness. Ten prompts checked once a month gives you ten answers a month on the cheapest plan, which is too little to tell a real change from normal variation between runs. The homepage FAQ says Perplexity, Claude, Grok and Copilot aren't tracked, and there are no API access plans. The lifetime deals ($290, $490 or $990 one time) look tempting, but their AI prompts run on demand only and the purchase can't be refunded. Credits are shared with the rest of the suite.

Ahrefs Brand Radar: a research database, not a tracker

Brand Radar's strength is scale. Across six AI indexes, it measures brand mentions and citations over hundreds of millions of modeled prompts. For a question like "who dominates citations in our market", that breadth beats any hand-built prompt list. The pivot is excellent too: any page cited ahead of you is one click from its backlink profile and content gaps in the rest of Ahrefs.

Precision is where it gets shaky. The prompts are derived from Google keywords and People Also Ask data, which isn't how people talk to chatbots. Chatbot indexes refresh roughly monthly. An independent test in January 2026 found Brand Radar reported 3 ChatGPT mentions for a site where manual checks verified 123. Claude, Grok and Meta AI aren't in the native indexes.

Then the price. The free beta has ended. You need an Ahrefs plan from $129 a month, then $199 per AI index or $699 for all six, plus $50 per 2,500 custom prompt checks. A full setup runs about $828 to $1,148 a month, and there's no white-label or per-client structure for agencies.

Who should pick which

Pick Ubersuggest if you're a solo marketer or small business already paying for it, and a monthly glance at ChatGPT and Gemini is all you need. Business at $49 is the sensible tier; Individual's monthly refresh is too slow to act on.

Pick Brand Radar if your team already lives in Ahrefs and runs quarterly competitive research, where one index at $199 can earn its keep. Read trends, not absolute counts.

For weekly operational tracking, neither fits.

Where Promptwatch fits

Ubersuggest samples too few prompts, and Brand Radar models prompts nobody typed. Promptwatch tracks the prompts you choose, monitoring the real interfaces of 11 engines with a daily refresh on every paid plan. Query fan-outs show the sub-searches an engine runs behind each answer, and prompt trends show what changed between checks.

Citation analytics is the closest match to Ahrefs' pivot: it lists the pages, domains, Reddit threads and YouTube videos each engine cites, with trends over time. Agent Analytics adds crawler logs, and visitor analytics ties AI-referred sessions to conversions. The pair document neither.

On price, Promptwatch sits between them. Essential at $95 a month gives 50 prompts, 6,000 responses and visitor analytics. Professional at $245 adds crawler logs, 150 prompts and city-level tracking, which is under a third of Brand Radar's full-index setup. If budget is the only constraint, Ubersuggest is cheaper; and nothing in Promptwatch replaces the Ahrefs backlink index.

Verdict

Ubersuggest is a reasonable monthly check for small accounts. Brand Radar is a research tool for Ahrefs teams who keep its accuracy limits in mind. If you need to track AI visibility week to week and show what it earns, start with Promptwatch on Essential, and move to Professional once crawler logs matter.

FAQ

Which is more accurate, Ubersuggest or Brand Radar?

They fail in different ways. Ubersuggest checks real prompts but very few of them, and not often. Brand Radar covers far more ground with modeled prompts, and an independent January 2026 test found it undercounted verified ChatGPT mentions by a wide margin.

Is the Ubersuggest lifetime plan worth it for AI tracking?

Not for tracking. Lifetime plans keep the project limits but switch AI prompts to on-demand only, and the purchase is non-refundable.

Where does Promptwatch sit against these two?

Between them on price: Essential is $95 a month, Professional $245. It tracks more engines than either, refreshes daily, and adds crawler logs and AI-referred conversions.
