Promptwatch vs HubSpot AEO vs Semrush AI Toolkit vs SE Ranking (2026)
Three SEO-suite AI add-ons against a dedicated AI visibility platform. Engines, prompt limits, add-on costs, and the gaps each suite leaves open.
If you are reading this, you probably already pay for HubSpot, Semrush or SE Ranking. Each now sells an AI visibility module, and the pitch is simple: you already log in here every day, so why add another vendor? That is a fair question. The honest answer depends on what you need the AI data to do once you have it.
The people choosing between these four are usually a marketing lead or an SEO manager with a fixed tools budget. The add-on is cheap and familiar. The dedicated platform costs more per month and means a new login. This guide is about what that difference buys.
Every number for HubSpot AEO, Semrush AI Toolkit and SE Ranking AI Tracker comes from our catalog entry for that tool. Promptwatch figures come from its published plan sheet. Where a vendor publishes nothing, the text and the table say so.
Promptwatch: the dedicated platform
Promptwatch was built for AI search first, not bolted onto keyword tracking. Paid brand plans refresh prompts daily across ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Grok, Llama, DeepSeek, Mistral and Copilot, plus Google AI Overviews and AI Mode. Explore is free for 10 ChatGPT prompts. Essential costs $95 a month with a 7-day trial and includes 50 prompts, 6,000 responses, 200,000 visitor events and five AEO articles. Professional, at $245 a month, moves to 150 prompts and 18,000 responses, adds 25 million crawler logs, and unlocks state and city tracking. Business is $579 a month. Agency plans start at $199 a month with unlimited projects and prompts.
What separates it from the suites is the data under each prompt. Prompts carry search volume, difficulty scores and query fan-outs. Citation analytics shows the exact page and domain a model cited, Reddit threads and YouTube videos included. Agent Analytics logs AI crawler visits from bots like ChatGPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot and traces the path from crawl to citation. Visitor analytics connects AI-referred sessions to conversions with a small script or a GTM template. Content Agents plan and draft pages from content gaps, hold them in a review inbox, and publish to Webflow, Framer or WordPress through the official plugin.
HubSpot AEO: a daily signal for HubSpot shops
HubSpot AEO costs $50 a month, or $45 a month billed yearly, and does not require any other HubSpot subscription. The standalone version has a 28-day free trial. It includes 2,500 answers a month and 25 prompts a day across ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini, with a daily brand visibility score, citation analysis and competitor share of voice. Marketing Hub Professional includes the same core tracking. Marketing Hub Enterprise doubles it to 5,000 answers and 50 daily prompts.
The recommendation list is the strongest part. It tells you to create a page, fix a technical gap, publish a video or reach out to a third-party site. On Marketing Hub Pro and Enterprise it also suggests prompts from your CRM data and can generate a blog post from a recommendation. If HubSpot is already where your content gets written, that loop is short.
The gaps are plain in the catalog. Three engines means no Claude, Copilot, Grok, AI Overviews or AI Mode. There is no published crawler log tracking, no visitor conversion analytics, and no published route for publishing GEO articles to Webflow or Framer. Blog generation is not part of standalone AEO.
Semrush AI Toolkit: an AI column beside your keywords
The Semrush AI Toolkit is a $99-a-month add-on per domain. That buys 25 prompts, one user and five engines: ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini and Perplexity. Claude, Copilot and DeepSeek sit in Enterprise AIO, which is sales-gated. Keyword-to-prompt mapping is the reason to buy it. You can see which of your money keywords now resolve to AI answers that leave you out, right next to the rankings and backlinks you already watch.
Costs climb fast once you go past one domain and one person. Each extra domain is another $99 a month, each extra seat another $99, and each 50 extra prompts another $60. Our catalog puts two users on one domain with 75 prompts at about $258 a month, and a ten-domain agency at roughly $1,000. Methodology deserves a second look too. The tracked prompts are AI-generated approximations of what people might ask, not observed queries, so treat trends as the signal. The catalog also records that Adobe completed its acquisition of Semrush in April 2026.
As with HubSpot, the listing documents no crawler logs, no AI-referred conversion tracking and no content agents. Prompt volumes, fan-outs, personas and city-level tracking are not documented either.
SE Ranking AI Tracker: the budget bundle
SE Ranking AI Tracker is an AI Search add-on that runs on the core suite, which the catalog lists at about $129 a month for Pro. The add-on itself is $89 a month for 200 checks, $179 for 450, or $345 for 1,000. It tracks Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini through UI-based scraping and keeps cached answer snapshots you can open and verify. SE Visible, the standalone tracker, runs $99 to $355 a month.
Do the meter math before comparing stickers. One check is one prompt on one engine. Fifty prompts on all five engines is 250 checks, which already overshoots the $89 allowance. The catalog also flags AI features spread over three interfaces, a sentiment score with no supporting context, and citation-level tracking (which page earned the mention) that is still in development. Claude is on the roadmap, not live.
On the plus side, agencies get white-label reporting, and the full bundle of rankings, audits, backlinks and an AI signal costs less than many standalone trackers.

Who should pick which
Use this as a checklist. If most boxes in a row are true for you, that tool fits.
- HubSpot AEO: HubSpot is your CRM and content tool, three engines answer your question, and you want recommendations that turn into HubSpot drafts.
- Semrush AI Toolkit: Semrush is your daily driver, you care about one flagship domain, and only one person needs access.
- SE Ranking AI Tracker: you need an SEO suite anyway, budget is the deciding factor, and a directional AI signal with cached snapshots is enough for client reports.
- Promptwatch: AI search is a channel you are expected to grow and report on, and you need to explain why visibility moved, not only whether it did.
Before you sign an add-on, ask the vendor these in the demo. Which engines are on my plan, and which cost extra? Can I see the exact URL the model cited? Can I see which AI crawlers fetched that page, and when? Can I tie an AI referral to a signup or sale? What does the second domain, seat or 50 prompts cost? The suites in this guide don't publish an answer to the crawler and conversion questions.
You also don't have to pick one. Keeping the suite for keyword rankings and technical audits while running AI visibility in a separate tool is a perfectly sane setup. The two reports measure different things anyway.
Why Promptwatch is the one to trial first
All three add-ons answer one question well: did the AI mention us? The trouble starts with the follow-up. When a prompt drops, you need to know which page the model cited instead, whether ChatGPTBot or ClaudeBot actually reached your page, and whether the AI visits you do get turn into pipeline. Promptwatch answers those with citation analytics down to the page, Agent Analytics crawler logs with the crawl-to-citation path, and visitor analytics with conversion tracking. Then Content Agents draft the missing page and publish it to your CMS after you approve it, so the fix happens in the same place as the diagnosis.
Start on Essential at $95 a month with the 7-day trial, load the 50 prompts your buyers actually ask, and compare its citation data against what your suite add-on reports for the same prompts. If you need crawler logs and city-level tracking from day one, go straight to Professional. Plans and setup are on the Promptwatch review page, and you can start the trial at promptwatch.com.
